INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEMS

Tympani network Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are software or appliance sensors specifically designed to efficiently and comprehensively detect all potential network threats, virtually eliminate false alarms, and automatically determine which threats need immediate attention to avoid costly intrusions. These products examine all inbound and outbound traffic and compare packets to a database of known attack signatures and protocols. Among the responses an IDS has include blocking and killing high risk connections, collecting forensic data, emailing or paging a network security officer, logging threat traffic, and sending threat data to a monitoring console in real time.
